Ana Axtmayer, who was born and raised in Puerto Rico, has her Master’s Degree in Bilingual Education from Temple University and her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education and Spanish Education from Chestnut Hill College. Before coming to VFMS three years ago, Mrs. Axtmayer taught in many other schools, including the Philadelphia School District, Cabrini College, two Montessori schools and Hillside, Beaumont, TEMS and VFES in this district. Mrs. Axtmayer has a daughter and three sons, and is a proud new Grandmom to grandson, James Henry.
In an interview with the PTO, Mrs. Axtmayer shared the following information:
Pets – She is a dog lover! She has a Westie and two Bernese Mountain Dogs.
Hobbies now – Loves to read and enjoys grooming, walking and training her dogs.
Hobbies, sports and interests when you were in middle school – Although there were not many opportunities for girls to participate in sports in Puerto Rico, Mrs. Axtmayer was a sprinter and played a lot of tennis.
Interesting/little known facts or talents – She used to breed labs, and Mr. Gibson now owns one of her puppies.
Advice for parents of middle school children – Try to laugh with your children. It is such a roller coaster time in their lives.
