This week’s Teacher of the Week is in his first year at VFMS – 5th grade blue team Social Studies and English teacher, Philip P. Leddy. Mr. Leddy earned his Master’s Degree in Education from Cabrini College and his Bachelor’s degree in Business, with a minor in History, from Bloomsburg University. Before coming to VFMS, he was a district wide substitute, and also taught at the Renaissance Academy, the Phoenixville School District and the Chester County Intermediate Unit. This year, Mr. Leddy jumped right into the fray and coached the boys’ soccer team.
In an interview with the PTO, Mr. Leddy shared the following information:
Pets – Yes, a bulldog named Roscoe.
Hobbies now – Cycling, skiing, and camping. If it involves the outdoors, chances are he will try it.
Hobbies, sports and interests when you were in middle school – He was very involved in athletics, playing football, basketball and running track. He also enjoyed singing in the chorus and acting in the school plays.
Interesting/little known facts or talents – Mr. Leddy comes from a military family, so he has lived in several different states and countries. After the United States, he has spent the most time living in Germany, where two of his sisters were born.
Advice for parents of middle school children – Get to know your child’s teachers. You know your son or daughter better than anyone else. If you share that inside information with the teachers, they will be better equipped to enhance your child’s overall middle school experience.
