This week’s Teacher of the Week is Pete DePiano, who teaches 8th grade Math. Mr. DePiano earned both his Master’s Degree in School Leadership and his Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Villanova University. He has been a teacher at VFMS for the last 14 years. Mr. DePiano’s wife, Heather, is also a teacher. She works for the Methacton School District as a high school special education teacher. Interestingly, just like Mrs. Guistwhite, Mr. DePiano is a parent of twins, Jack and Alexandra, who are 4 years old.
In an interview with the PTO, Mr. DePiano shared the following information:
Pets – a new addition to the family is their cat, Sophie.
Hobbies now – coaching t-ball, working on home renovation projects and rooting for Philadelphia sports teams.
Hobbies, sports and interests when you were in middle school – played baseball and weight football, and drums in band and orchestra. Continued with drums throughout high school and all four years at Villanova.
Interesting/little known facts or talents – performed on stage at Radio City Music Hall when he was 19.
Advice for parents of middle school children – Talk with your kids daily about what is happening in school. Partner with the teachers to ensure success of your child. If your child is involved in extracurriculars, try to attend as many of those events as possible!
