This week’s Teacher of the Week is 6th grade gold team Reading and English teacher, Jen Reid. Mrs. Reid received her Master’s Degree in Literacy from West Chester University and her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education and Psychology from St. Joseph’s University. She has taught at VFMS for the last twelve years. Previously, she spent three years teaching at St. Christopher School in Philadelphia. Mrs. Reid and her husband, Pete, have been married for ten years.
In an interview with the PTO, Mrs. Reid shared the following information:
Pets – No.
Hobbies now – Reading, shopping, spending time with her three nieces and being involved with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
Hobbies, sports and interests when you were in middle school – Played volleyball and with the band, and performed community service.
Interesting/little known facts or talents – Mrs. Reid is an expert gift wrapper but a terrible cook! Thankfully, her husband is a great cook. Also, when she was in 6th grade, she won her school’s Spelling Bee.
Advice for parents of middle school children – Take time to really listen to your children – they’ll be comfortable coming to you with the little stuff AND the big stuff!
