Please extend a belated warm welcome to this week’s Teacher of the Week, 5th-8th grade Art teacher, Courtney Jaggers, who is in her first year at VFMS. Ms. Jaggers received her Bachelor of Science in Art Education, with a minor in Crafts from Kutztown University. This summer, she will be returning to Kutztown to begin pursuing a Master’s Degree in Education with a concentration in Art. Before starting at VFMS in the Fall, Ms. Jaggers taught elementary art in Bethlehem, PA for one year and English in Spain for one year. Her parents live in the Poconos and she has an older sister who lives in Maryland.
In an interview with the PTO, Ms. Jaggers shared the following information:
Pets – Three cats, Syra, Cuse and Cobain.
Hobbies now – Painting, running and baking.
Hobbies, sports and interests when you were in middle school – Participated in Student Council and Art Club. Played field hockey, softball and basketball.
Interesting/little known facts or talents – She loves to decorate cupcakes. In addition, when she was ten years old, she was the Pennsylvania Home Run Derby hitting champion for her age group. The championship round was held at Veteran’s Stadium.
Advice for parents of middle school children – Always ask your children to tell you about their day and ask questions. Be ready and available to listen!
