several topics as discussion points
- Calendar 2012-2013 presented by Rich Gusick
Probable Calendar has these following points
Post labor day start next year, 8/29 teachers first day back, 9/4 students first day back
All holidays maintained, including wednesday before Thanksgiving
6/14 last day, exception of inservice days for snow, push back to 6/24 for snow days, more than 5 snow days, then start taking days from spring break.
- Keystone exams presented by Delvin Dinkins
All exams at this point are not included in grade compilation at schools.
First exam last year was Algebra 1( 2.5 hours). 98,000 students across Pennsylvania took exam, 38% passed with 70 % or higher. However, all students taking test were declared proficient simply for taking the test.
T/E students had 85% proficient rating (above 70%)
Next exams rolled out for grades 8/9 include Algebra 1, Biology, literature, and english composition. However, all tests placed on hold till money is allocated by the state.
Ultimately, Keystone exams for English Composition, English literature, Algebra 1, Geometry , Algebra 2, Biology, Chemistry, World History, US history and Civics and government will be put in place. No timeline exists at his point due to finances. Intention of Pennsylvania state is to mimic New York regent tests.
Many different ways of incorporating test scores into final grade of T/E courses. Final method to be determined after Pennsylvania state determines when tests are to be rolled out.
1. final grade may consist of 33% of keystone test
2.Independent validated local assessments
- Keystone tests may stand as stand alone proficiency exam
No decisions have been made to his point on any Keystone tests.
